Overview TMG USB IO-Link Master V2 – EMC

The TMG - USB IO - Link Master V2 - EMC is a very simple tool for testing the EMC sensitivity of the IO - Link communication in IO - Link Devices according to the IO - Link test specification. In addition, it has similar functionality as the USB IO-Link Master of the Standard Edition and can be used with the TMG IO-Link Device Tool V5.1.

These specific IO-Link EMC tests can’t be performed with most of all IO-Link Master. With the TMG USB IO-Link Master V2 - EMC, you can reduce the extra effort for these tests to a minimum.

The USB interface of comercially available PCs is not suitable for use in an EMC test environment. For this reason, the EMC Test Master is operated without a PC. The supplied 24V plug-in power supply and a commercially available 5V USB plug-in power supply are required.

The test runs without the PC and is configured via the Application Specific Tag of the IO-Link device. The support of the "Application Specific Tag" in the IO-Link Device under test is a prerequisite for the use of the "TMG-USB IO-Link Master V2 EMC".

The tool can operate in two modes: “Continuous measurement” and “Measurement within a time interval”. It is not intended to carry out the EMC test with regard to the device function. We recommend using fieldbus or Ethernet-based IO-Link Master.

The TMG USB IO-Link Master V2 – EMC can also be used with the IO-Link Device Tool V5.1 for setting the "Application Specific Tag". We recommend however using a second USB IO-Link Master (TMG IO-Link Device Tool V5.1 - Standard Edition) to avoid unnecessary switching between test setup and PC with IO-Link Device Tool. This approach makes the handling much more comfortable.
